Refusal to travel

An air operator, the agent of an air operator, or a travel agency shall not, on grounds of a disability, refuse to accept a reservation from a passenger to fly to or from an aerodrome in Iceland or to board an aircraft in an aerodrome in Iceland, provided that the passenger has a valid reservation and ticket. An air operator may however refuse to accept a reservation for a flight or deny a passenger boarding on grounds of a disability in cases where this is imposed by flight safety requirements or when the size or the aircraft, its doors, or circumstances during transport prevent transport from being possible. If an air operator refuses to accept a reservation from a disabled passenger or denies a disabled passenger boarding, the air operator shall inform the passenger of the reasons for the refusal.

When a disabled passenger is refused transport on the basis of flight safety requirements, the air operator, the agent of the air operator, or travel agency shall make the appropriate arrangements to provide the passenger with a satisfactory option for transport. Disabled passengers who have been denied boarding on grounds of their disability as well as the accompanying person shall have a right to reimbursement or re-routing as regulation no. 574/2005 makes further provision for.
