The role of the Administrative Division is to attend to general administration concerning the role and operations of the Icelandic Civil Aviation Administration (ICAA). The Division handles general international communication, especially with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). The Division also attends to human resource and financial management, as well as various other support services for the employees of the ICAA.

The Administrative Division deals with various administrative issues. In particular, concerning enquiries from individuals, institutions, companies, and municipalities. The Division also handles communication with the Ministry of the Interior and the Icelandic Parliament.

The tasks handled by the Division are therefore very diverse, such as human resource management, financial management, participation in preparation and oversight of the laws and rules according to which the ICAA works, processing of applications from airlines in civil aviation that wish to enter Icelandic airspace, and processing of commercial flight and landing permits, etc. The Division furthermore handles the preparation and organisation of the aviation part of the national transport plan.

The Administrative Division is divided into two Sections, the Finance Section and the General Administrative Section. A diverse group of employees with different backgrounds, education, and experience works within the Division.

The Director of the Administrative Division is Halla S. Sigurðardóttir. Halla completed an MBA degree from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland in 2003 and a BA degree from the University of Iceland in 1999. She has worked at the ICAA since 2004.
