Transport Council
The Transport Council was appointed on 1 December 2003 according to the Transport Plan Act no. 71/2002. The Transport Council is composed of the Director of the Public Roads Administration, Director of the Maritime Administration, and Director General of the Icelandic Civil Aviation Administration (ICAA), in addition to the representative of the Minister of the Interior who also serves as chairman. The chairman is appointed for four years, though this shall be limited to the Minister’s term of office.
The current Transport Council is composed of:
- Dagur B. Eggertsson, City Councillor, representative of the Minister of the Interior, appointed on 1 August 2007.
- Hreinn Haraldsson, Director of the Icelandic Roads Administration, appointed by law.
- Hermann Guðjónsson, Director of the Icelandic Maritime Administration, appointed by law.
- Pétur K. Maack, Director General of ICAA, appointed by law.
